Instructing OQPC

The Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel provides training for government policy officers who are involved in instructing OQPC.

The introductory training provides an overview of the drafting process, the role of the drafter and the instructor, and how to prepare drafting instructions. More tailored training can be provided on particular topics such as the fundamental legislative principles and instructing on transitional provisions.

If you are a Queensland government policy officer who is interested in attending OQPC’s training for instructing officers, contact your agency’s CLLO to be nominated.

Using the Queensland Legislation website

Information about how to use the Queensland Legislation website is available on the Information and Help pages of that website. There you will find instructional videos and FAQs.

OQPC can provide a 45–60 minute presentation about the Queensland Legislation website for groups of government officers. The presentation is designed for new users of the Queensland Legislation website and includes a general overview of the website and a demonstration of the navigation features and search functionality.

Government managers with a venue in the Brisbane metropolitan area can arrange for a presentation for a group of 10 or more officers by contacting OQPC—

OQPC has developed a series of short training videos to help new instructing officers gain an insight into working with OQPC to draft legislation.
